Based in North Pembrokeshire in the foothills of the Preseli mountains & Snowdonia our instructors design courses for a variety of outdoor needs. When we say 'Mountain' activities we mean all the different sort of terrain and challenges you could expect when entering into the mountains or any kind of rugged wilderness, this could mean hill, crag, forest, coast, river, moorland, heathland and so on. Our courses operate in all areas of Wales including Snowdonia & Brecon as well as North Pembrokeshire and the Preselis.

Carreg Las instructors are trained proffessionals with years of experience in a variety of fields including hillwalking & mountaineering, remote navigation, bushcraft & wilderness survival, roping & climbing, aboriculture & woodland conservation & management.

Hillwalking & navigation courses are run by National Mountain Centre trained individuals that have lived in Wales all their lives including many years in Snowdonia & Brecon and will openly share their knowladge and experiences, from British hillwalking to Alpine ski touring.

Bushcraft & wilderness survival instructors have had hands on experience in remote places all over the world, living closely with the reindeer hurding Sami tribes of Norway & the Arctic circle, learning their everyday skills including knife making & campcraft to jungle survival in the far off islands of Indonesia & recurve and longbow shaping. We are all passionate about life in the great outdoors and this is reflected in the way we teach.

Roping & climbing courses are run by trained arborists who rely on their roping techniques, positioning and knotwork skills everyday. Safety is paramount when operating in extremely dangerous situations and learning from these highly skilled individuals is extremely beneficial to climbers & mountaineers. Arboriculture (tree surgery) is recognised as being one of, if not the most dangerous and demanding of professions because of the obvious hazards involved, that is why safety is our business.

We also manage our own woodlands in West Wales which gives us the freedom we like to teach such a diverse range of skills for the backcountry enthusiast.
